Throwback Weekend: Thomas Dolby
Bio from Wiki:-
Thomas Dolby (born Thomas Morgan Robertson; 14 October 1958) is an English musician and producer best known for his 1982 hit “She Blinded Me with Science” and 1984 single “Hyperactive!“. He has also worked extensively in production and as a session musician, as a technology entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, and as the Music Director for the TED Conference. He is currently a Professor of the Arts at Johns Hopkins University.
Way back in the 1980’s, my earliest memory of British Singer/songwriter Thomas Dolby was when I saw him in a pop video with a famous children’s TV personality, Dr. Magnus Pyke. Dr. Magnus Pyke was a British scientist, who appeared in Thomas’s biggest hit single “She Blinded Me With Science” (1982) – you can hear samples of his voice on this track! What a fun pop video it was too!
As for Mr. Dolby, I kinda saw him as a mad scientist of music who can also do backflips (as you can see from his early pop videos). 😀 It was fun seeing him experiment with music and using the latest technology in his compositions. Even at one time, as a kid back then, I also thought Mr. Dolby was involved with Dolby Laboratories that specialises in movie sound technologies – the two have no connection with each other! Ha ha! 😉
Anyway, I like Thomas’s early music and his videos which were fun to watch. For this Throwback weekend, take a trip back in time and enjoy the music of Thomas Dolby! By the way, check out Thomas Dolby’s personal Spotify playlist at the bottom of the page! Enjoy your weekend folks!
